Hello, We have recently implemented SCCM 2012. I am using the Remote Control Viewer tool but I can't get the Windows key to work on the remote host. It brings it up on the local host. I have found various articles about which keys only work on the host but the Windows key isn't listed as one of them. Is this standard functionality or isolated to our enviroment? We use the Windows Key + R to bring up the Run command (which isn't in the start menu for our users).

We are being forced to abandon user friendly remote control options such as Dameware and CA Unincenter remote control for a company wide use of SCCM remote access (RC.exe). The version we have (4.0.6221.1000) does not allow multi level access and requires user acceptance of connection. I saw a refrence to a re written version that allows mulit level connections and no acceptance of connection but cannot find it for download. Would someone be so kind as to identify where this version can be acquired?
You can find CMTrace.exe on the Primary Site server, located into Tools, and also included in the Boot Images. Of course, you can use CMTrace as your default log viewer.

It is possible for both the Configuration Manager 2007 administrator and the user at the client computer to both enter commands simultaneously which could result in an incorrect command being entered. It is therefore important for the Configuration Manager 2007 administrator to communicate with the user at the client computer before the remote control session takes place. If you view the selected client computer display in a sized window, or if the client computer has a higher resolution video display, the Configuration Manager Remote Control window may not be able to display the client computer's entire desktop. SCCM 2007 has a only 2 policys, allow connection or ask the user to accept incomming connection similar to Remote Assistant. This will change in SCCM 2012 where you can remote into any computer locked or unlocked that has been configured to allow Remote Tools connections. And you can also configure it to ask the user or not in the 2012 version. This works great by creating a Command Line connection. I have set this upp for 300 computers in my environment. But being the lazy admin wondered if this could be made simpler.

Enable keyboard translation By default, Configuration Manager transmits the key position from the viewer’s location to the sharer’s location. This can present a problem for keyboard configurations that differ from viewer to sharer. For example, a viewer with an English keyboard would type an “A”, but the sharer’s French keyboard would provide a “Q”. You now have the option of configuring remote control so that the character itself is transmitted from the viewer’s keyboard to the sharer, and what the viewer intends to type arrives at the sharer. To turn on keyboard translation, in Configuration Manager Remote Control, choose Action, and choose Enable keyboard translation to transmit key position.
The goal is to highlight anything you want. Here, I want to highlight anything written about “Successfully”. To do that, go to “ Tools” menu and select “ Highlight”: Another useful feature is the “ Error Lookup” tool. You just need to enter an error code into the tool and CMTrace will display a brief description of what the code means.
